Oncolytic Herpes Simplex Virus Engineering and Preparation
2011Herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1) is an enveloped, double-stranded DNA virus that has been used with modification as an oncolytic virus against a number of tumor types. Modifications that make HSV-1 replication--conditional, i.e., selectively divide in replicating cells make it fulfill a prerequisite criteria for oncolytic viruses.

The Mathematical Preparation for Engineering
The Mathematics Teacher, 1981Why is mathematics identified as a prerequisite to engineering? It is true that engineers deal with tangible things like concrete, machine parts, and steel beams and that a good working knowledge of basic mathematics is essential to manipulate these building blocks into dams, machines, and structures.

Preparing engineers for a career
Electronics and Power, 1973Is the present British system of engineering education and training, which produces specialists in certain technical subjects, adequate to meet the needs of present-day industry? There are indications that a different approach is preferable, in which engineers are trained in a much wider range of topics not previously considered part of traditional ...

Preparation of cellodextrins: An engineering approach
Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 1978The combination of Sephadex G-15 and ion-exchange resin columns allows one-step desalting and separation of cellodextrins using water as the sole eluent. The column apparatus described in this paper has the potential of producing up to 3 g cellodextrins in one day.

Preparing Engineers for the 21st Century
International Journal of Quality Assurance in Engineering and Technology Education, 2015Process skills (problem-solving, lifelong learning, critical thinking, communication and collaboration, self-assessment, change management, etc.) have always been important in any education and work setting. However, new challenges presented by a new, globalized economy, have put a new focus on these skills in the engineering workplace.

Mixture Preparation for Spark-ignition Engines
1990The fuel system and inlet manifold are servants of the spark-ignition (SI) engine in that they are called upon to deliver to each cylinder the required amount of fuel mixed with an appropriate quantity of air, served in a digestible form. The objective of this chapter is to review current knowledge of the processes involved in the supply of this fuel ...
