Variability of residual soil properties

open access: yes, 2012
Rainfall-induced slope failures are commonly observed in residual soil. Due to weathering, the residual soil properties vary with depths, especially in tropical countries, such as: Singapore.

The Effect of Adding Mixture of Gypsum-Lime with Geopolymer on the Properties of Swelling Soil

open access: yesCivil and Environmental Engineering
This study was to investigate the influence of adding optimum percentages of gypsum (G) - lime (L) mixtures (i.e. 6% lime and 4% gypsum) with three percentages of fly ash geopolymer (FAG) (i.e. 6%, 9%, and 12%) on some engineering properties of expansive

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Characterising and deriving engineering properties of a saprolitic soil from granite, in Porto [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Residual soils are characterised by the presence of a bonded structure and fabric that has significant influence on engineering behaviour. This characteristic requires specific concepts for geotechnical classification.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.
