Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Single Polymer Composites Based on Polypropylene: Processing and Properties

open access: yes, 2004
PhDIsotropic polymers lack sufficient strength and stiffness for many engineering applications. In order to improve these properties polymers can be filled with structural reinforcements such as glass or natural fibres.

Experimental study on the suitability of highland bamboo sawdust in improving expansive soil

open access: yesSustainable Structures
Soils are naturally existing materials that challenges civil engineering structures such as roads and buildings. However, not all soils are suitable materials to uses due to their changing in strength and stability under fluctuating environmental ...

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Quantitative proteomic analysis reveals different characteristics of bladder cancer cells after exposure to bisphenol A

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bisphenol A (BPA), a common chemical in plastics, exerts dual effects on bladder cancer cells: low doses promote growth and migration, while high doses suppress growth and migration. Multi‐omics and bioinformatics reveal BPA acts via MAPK and inflammatory pathways.

GOSEP: Georeferenced Oregon Soil Engineering Properties

open access: yes
Geotechnical engineers design and analyze the interface between the natural and built environments, often based on uncertain and inherently variable data due to the nature of the building material, soil.
