Ultra Short Pulse Laser Welding of Glass to Metal in the Low Fluence Regime

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
Ultrashortpulse laser welding enables precise joining of glass and metal with minimal thermal damage. We introduce the TwoThresholds Criteria to identify suitable laser parameters by combining the nonlinearabsorption threshold in glass with the metalmodification fluence threshold.

Combined CFD and Monte Carlo Simulation for Modeling the Impact of Mixing on the High‐Pressure Polymerization of Ethylene

open access: yesMacromolecular Reaction Engineering, EarlyView.
This article addresses the impact of mixing on polymer properties during high‐pressure polymerization of ethylene. Mixing is analyzed using CFD simulations, including polymerization kinetics. Detailed polymer properties are obtained through Monte Carlo simulations. Both modeling steps are linked via a compartmentalization approach.

Pressure‐Decay Kinetic Modeling of Homogeneous Ethylene Polymerization with Et(Ind)2ZrCl2/TIBA‐Borate Catalyst System in a Batch Reactor

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
A kinetic model comprising both propagation and deactivation functions was developed for metallocene‐catalyzed ethylene polymerization in a batch reactor. The model predicted polymer yields very close to the experimental ones. The polymer molecular weight increased with ethylene pressure and decreased with temperature.
