Interlaced spin grating for optical wave filtering

open access: yes, 2015
Interlaced Spin Grating is a scheme for the preparation of spectro-spatial periodic absorption gratings in a inhomogeneously broadened absorption profile. It relies on the optical pumping of atoms in a nearby long-lived ground state sublevel.

Restauration virtuelle de l’art pariétal paléolithique : le cas de la grotte de Marsoulas

open access: yesIn Situ, 2012
The techniques of 3D scanning are being applied in prehistoric caves and rock-shelters with increasing success. 3D imaging can even help restore the paintings of caves damaged by weathering or by human interventions (graffiti).

From Queen Caroline to Lady Dedlock: Dickens and the popular radical imagination [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004

Laser‐Induced Graphene from Waste Almond Shells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Almond shells, an abundant agricultural by‐product, are repurposed to create a fully bioderived almond shell/chitosan composite (ASC) degradable in soil. ASC is converted into laser‐induced graphene (LIG) by laser scribing and proposed as a substrate for transient electronics.

Fabrication of quantum point contacts by engraving GaAs/AlGaAs-heterostructures with a diamond tip

open access: yes, 2002
We use the all-diamond tip of an atomic force microscope for the direct engraving of high quality quantum point contacts in GaAs/AlGaAs-heterostructures.

Meta‐Rod Mechanical Metamaterials With Programmable Reconfiguration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Existing mechanical metamaterials achieve programmable large deformations in planar square or cubic configurations, restricted by required complex boundary conditions. This research proposes a 1D metamaterial, Meta‐rod, with linear, bending, twisting, area, and volume deformation modes.

Multiobjective scheduling for semiconductor manufacturing plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Scheduling of semiconductor wafer manufacturing system is identified as a complex problem, involving multiple and conflicting objectives (minimization of facility average utilization, minimization of waiting time and storage, for instance) to ...

Clean Up Behind You ‐ Novel Patterning Approach for Solid Immersion Lenses

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A focused ion beam (FIB) milling strategy enables rapid fabrication of solid immersion lenses (SILs) with smooth, debris‐free surfaces eliminating the need for post‐processing. The optimized pattern improves efficiency and surface quality. SILs containing NV centers are also investigated, confirming the technique's suitability for quantum and photonic ...
