AbstractFracturing a geothermal reservoir of hot dry rock (HDR) by the engineered stimulation is a prerequisite to efficient heat extraction of an enhanced geothermal system (EGS). However, the heat extraction performances of different EGSs employing distinct stimulation strategies remain unclear, resulting in the conundrum that which stimulation mode ...

An investigation of stimulation mechanisms in Enhanced Geothermal Systems
AbstractWe review ten historical Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) projects and find that typically, during injection: (1) flow from the wellbore is from preexisting fractures, (2) bottomhole pressure exceeds the minimum principal stress, and (3) pressure-limiting behavior occurs.

Enhanced Geothermal Systems – Promises and Challenges
Geothermal energy plays a very important role in the energy basket of the world. However, understanding the geothermal hotspots and exploiting the same from deep reservoirs, by using advanced drilling technologies, is a key challenge. This study focuses on reservoirs at a depth greater than 3 km and temperatures more than 150°C.

Modeling Fluid Reinjection Into an Enhanced Geothermal System [PDF]
AbstractThe manuscript analyzes the stimulation for an Enhanced Geothermal System development in Acoculco, Mexico. Using an analytical penny‐shaped hydraulic fracture model covering different propagation regimes, we computed the final fracture length and width by varying fluid properties with temperature.

Enhanced Geothermal System with captured CO2
Abstract Post-combustion capture plants are widely studied because they represent a feasible solution to limit the CO2 emissions from existing plant. They can be applied to power plants and to industrial plants. The captured CO2 is transported to dedicated sites to be sequestrated.

ABSTRACT Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) can be transformed into hydrogen (H2) through several chemical and catalytic processes, offering a promising route for both waste treatment and clean H2 production. This colorless, flammable, and toxic gas is found abundantly in swamps, volcanoes, hot springs, sewages, other natural gas fields, and even in refineries and

Appropriate butylene oxide (BO) functionalization of amines (polyethyleneimine (PEI1200 and PEI300) and tris(2‐aminoethyl)amine (TREN)) enables excellent cyclic working capacities (WCcyclic) at low desorption temperatures (40−70°C). Notably, 0.30BO‐PEI300‐SY and 0.54BO‐TREN‐SY show the highest WCcyclic at 45 and 40°C, respectively.

Rare‐Earth Yttrium Doping Advances High‐Performance AgSbTe2 Thermoelectrics
Y‐doped AgSbTe2 achieves band and microstructure co‐optimization, with coherent Y‐Ag2Te interfaces enhancing phonon scattering and reducing lattice thermal conductivity to 0.26 W m−1 K−1. Combined with valence‐band broadening and increased carrier concentration, this yields ZT ≈ 2 at 623 K, average ZT = 1.5, and 7.3 % conversion efficiency of a single ...

Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) R&D Program, Status Report: Foreign Research on Enhanced Geothermal Systems [PDF]
This report reviews enhanced geothermal systems (EGS) research outside the United States. The term ''enhanced geothermal systems'' refers to the use of advanced technology to extract heat energy from underground in areas with higher than average heat flow but where the natural permeability or fluid content is limited.

Abstract Germany's Renewable Energy Sources Act (REA), enacted in 2000 and subsequently amended, subsidized national renewable energy production with fixed feed‐in tariffs for renewable energy sources (RE) from wind, solar, and biogas. Empirical studies suggest that the policy was creating windfall effects for landowners and attribute farmland use ...
