Elliptical double corrugated tubes for enhanced heat transfer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2019
The thermal performance at constant pumping power conditions was numerically investigated in ellipse and super ellipse-based double corrugated tubes. A significant increase in thermal efficiency in double corrugated tubes is accompanied with a reasonable

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Heat Transfer Enhancement with Nanofluids – A Review

open access: yesJOURNAL OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING AND SCIENCES, 2013
This paper presents a review of the studies undertaken on convection heat transfer with nanofluids. Initial studies were directed towards the determination of the properties of nanofluids, especially their thermal conductivity and viscosity. The studies indicate that thermal conductivity and viscosity increase with an increase in the concentration of ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Theoretical and Experimental Research on Thermal Dynamic Characteristics of Single-Screw Compressor with a New Composite SLIDE Valve

open access: yesEnergies
Based on the single-screw compressor (SSC) structure, a new type of composite slide valve (CSV) has been proposed and designed, featuring internal volume ratios of 2.8, 3.9, and 5.6 and operating under a partial load of 35%.

Energy-saving renovation of old urban buildings: A case study of Beijing

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2021
Energy saving and environmental protection have become the core development concept of China construction industry. There are still a large number of old urban buildings in Beijing, whose energy consumption far exceeds the current building energy ...

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Heat transfer enhancement by Görtler instability

open access: yesInternational Journal of Heat and Fluid Flow, 2002
Abstract Measurements of mean velocity field and mean temperature field were performed in a concave boundary layer. The growth of the induced Gortler vortices embedded in this boundary layer has been determined in two ways by a criterion based equally on spanwise distortion of velocity or temperature profile.
