Exploration of heterogeneity and recurrence signatures in hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study leveraged public datasets and integrative bioinformatic analysis to dissect malignant cell heterogeneity between relapsed and primary HCC, focusing on intercellular communication, differentiation status, metabolic activity, and transcriptomic profiles.

Patient-reported outcomes 6 months after enhanced recovery after colorectal surgery. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
BackgroundEnhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) programs have been established as perioperative strategies associated with improved outcomes. However, intermediate and long-term patient-reported outcome data for patients undergoing ERAS interventions ...

The atypical KRASQ22K mutation directs TGF‐β response towards partial epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in patient‐derived colorectal cancer tumoroids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TGF‐β has a complex role in cancer, exhibiting both tumor‐suppressive and tumor‐promoting properties. Using a series of differentiated tumoroids, derived from different stages and mutational background of colorectal cancer patients, we replicate this duality of TGF‐β in vitro. Notably, the atypical but highly aggressive KRASQ22K mutation rendered early‐

TRPM8 levels determine tumor vulnerability to channel agonists

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TRPM8 is a Ca2+ permissive channel. Regardless of the amount of its transcript, high levels of TRPM8 protein mark different tumors, including prostate, breast, colorectal, and lung carcinomas. Targeting TRPM8 with channel agonists stimulates inward calcium currents followed by emptying of cytosolic Ca2+ stores in cancer cells.

Consensus Guidelines for Perioperative Care in Neonatal Intestinal Surgery: Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS®) Society Recommendations

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, 2020
Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS®) Society guidelines integrate evidence-based practices into multimodal care pathways that have improved outcomes in multiple adult surgical specialties. There are currently no pediatric ERAS® Society guidelines.

Preemptive local anaesthetic in gynecological laparoscopy and postoperative movement evoked pain : a randomised trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
STUDY OBJECTIVE: To evaluate whether preemptive local anesthetics injected into the trocar areas reduce postoperative movement-evoked pain within an enhanced recovery program (ERP) in laparoscopic gynecologic surgery. DESIGN: A randomized and double-

Dose‐dependent induction of epithelial‐mesenchymal transition in 3D melanoma models by non‐thermal plasma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Non‐thermal plasma treatment of melanoma cells induced epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in a dose‐dependent fashion. This report highlights the critical need to further investigate potential adverse effects of non‐thermal plasma for cancer therapy and to optimize treatment parameters for clinical translation. Despite the promising results of non‐
