Enol-enol tautomerism in cis-keto-enols

Journal of Molecular Structure, 1998
Abstract Data on the fast enol-enol equilibria in cis-enol forms of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds are first collected and analyzed. Intramolecular and external factors determining tautomeric composition are brought to light. These are presented specific temperature dependences of some NMR parameters, reflecting the shift of tautomeric equilibria.

Enols and enolates

1997
This chapter assesses enols and enolates. An aqueous solution of a simple ketone such as acetone is a surprisingly complex system. In addition to the reversible hydration of the keto form, it is in equilibrium with an enol tautomer and an enolate ion. At equilibrium, the concentrations of enol and enolate are very small in this case.

Keto–enol and enol–enol tautomerism in trifluoromethyl-β-diketones

Journal of Fluorine Chemistry, 2006
Abstract The keto–enol (K⇌E) and enol–enol (E⇌E) equilibria of a variety of trifluoromethyl-β-diketones were investigated using 1 H, 13 C, 19 F NMR spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy and ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry in nonpolar solvents.

13C NMR spectra and enol—enol tautomerism in crystalline keto—enols

Journal of Molecular Structure, 1990
Abstract The tautomeric equilibrium in crystals of five β-diketones has been studied by 13 C NMR spectroscopy using “magic angle” spinning techniques. The results are compared with literature data for the corresponding 10% solutions. The difference between chelate enol—enol equilibria in crystalline and dissolved keto—enols was found to be small in ...

Enantioselective Protonation of Enolates and Enols

Angewandte Chemie International Edition in English, 1996
AbstractEnantioselective protonation, until recently a largely overlooked reaction, has, in the last five years, developed into a field of intense research activity. The progress achieved parallels or complements that obtained in the understanding of enolate structures and reactivities.

Formation and reactions of enols and enolates

2012
This chapter focuses on the formation and reactions of enols and enolates. Carbonyl compounds have two opposed sides to their characters. They can be nucleophilic as well: electrophilic attack on aldehydes, ketones, and acid derivatives is a useful reaction too. How can the same class of compound be subject to both nucleophilic and electrophilic attack?
