The coming age of enophthalmos
Current Opinion in Ophthalmology, 2013Many factors are known to affect the health of the ocular surface. Enophthalmos is an often-overlooked component of ocular surface disease, and its prevalence is likely on the rise. This review outlines the many causes of enophthalmos, summarizes recent literature describing its relation to the health of the conjunctiva and cornea, and reviews new ways

Posttraumatic Enophthalmos and Diplopia
Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 1986Malposition of the globe and failure to fuse visual images are late‐developing complications of orbital injury. This article reviews the causes of specific sequelae, such as enophthalmos, hypophthalmos, and diplopia, and describes a procedure of strategic implantation of autogenous bone grafts to correct the condition(s).

Enophthalmos and Horner's Syndrome
Archives of Neurology, 1983To the Editor. —Although S. Weir Mitchell in 1864 1 and J. F. Horner in 1869 2 published the first descriptions of ipsilateral miosis, ptosis, anhidrosis, facial flushing, and enophthalmos attributed to interruption of ocular sympathetic innervation, some authors 3-4 have subsequently denied that enophthalmos is a reliable sign of Horner's syndrome ...

Retrobulbar Lipofilling to Correct the Enophthalmos
Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 2011In this article, we describe an alternative procedure to restore the retrobulbar volume in enophthalmic patients. We report the case of a patient with a late enophthalmos we submitted to retrobulbar lipofilling to correct the defect. The preoperative assessment and the surgical technique are described in detail.

Clinics in Plastic Surgery, 1992
This article has focused on the prevention and treatment of enophthalmos. It has stressed that enophthalmos is both a common complication of orbital fracture and a complication that can be difficult to treat. The cause of these failures of primary and secondary treatment is failure to recognize that orbital fractures have two distinct patterns and that

Maxillary Sinus Atelectasis with Enophthalmos
Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology, 1998Chronic maxillary sinusitis may present as atelectasis of the sinus with changes to surrounding structures. Several mechanisms have been proposed for this problem. Chronic obstruction of the sinus ostium, with resultant retention of secretions and osteitic bone resorption, may account for these changes.

A Simple Method for the Correction of Enophthalmos
Clinics in Plastic Surgery, 1987Autogenous rib cartilage grafts are used to correct enophthalmos. The grafts are introduced through two small tunnels into the posterior quadrant of the orbit. The procedure leaves almost no scar and final results are satisfactory.

Orbital neoplasia with enophthalmos in a cat
Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 1989A 9-year-old cat was evaluated for left-sided enophthalmos and protrusion of the third eyelid. A primary orbital fibrosarcoma was diagnosed. During the orbital exploration, normal periorbital fascia could not be identified in the lateral and ventral region, thus accounting for the enophthalmos.

The Role of Enophthalmos in Involutional Entropion
Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, 1997Relative enophthalmos is often cited as a causative factor in the development of involutional entropion. However, the association between enophthalmos and involutional entropion is largely anecdotal; no patient population study has been performed to determine if a causal relationship exists.
