BIN1 and ALDH1B1 Deficiency in Colonic Smooth Muscle Drives Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Fibrosis in Slow‐Transit Constipation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Slow‐transit constipation (STC) is a disabling motility disorder with unclear smooth‐muscle mechanisms. Spatial proteomic analysis of STC patient colon reveals both the central pathogenic role of smooth muscle cells (SMCs) in STC and novel regulators of intestinal motility, BIN1 and ALDH1B1.

Why are enteric ganglia so small? Role of differential adhesion of enteric neurons and enteric neural crest cells. [v1; ref status: indexed, http://f1000r.es/59q]

open access: yesF1000Research, 2015
The avian enteric nervous system (ENS) consists of a vast number of unusually small ganglia compared to other peripheral ganglia. Each ENS ganglion at mid-gestation has a core of neurons and a shell of mesenchymal precursor/glia-like enteric neural crest

El nostre cos també ens parla

open access: yes, 2023
Tothom sap quins són els cinc sentits: la vista, l'oïda, el tacte, l'olfacte i el gust. Serveixen per percebre informació de l'exterior. Ara bé, el cos també ens proporciona una informació valuosíssima del que succeeix al nostre interior.

Multi‐Component Functionalized Bifidobacterium Longum Hydrogel for Multi‐Target Integrated Therapy of Colitis‐Associated Anxiety and Depression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A pH/MMP dual‐responsive Bifidobacterium longum (BL) hydrogel (INPs@BL@Gel) functionalized with baicalin, tyrosine, and inulin is constructed. It enables gastric protection, inflammation‐targeted release, and prolonged intestinal colonization. By remodeling gut microbiota, elevating beneficial neuroactive metabolites (homovanillic acid, short‐chain ...

‘Hurry Up and Get Me out of Here’: The Experience of People Under 65 Years (Still) Stuck in Aged Care

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Following the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, the Australian Government set a target for no‐one under 65 years of age to be living in residential aged care (RAC) by 2025. The numbers of young people in residential aged care (YPIRAC) have significantly declined since the start of the targets.
