Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.

Distributional Reinforcement Learning with Ensembles

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2020
It is well known that ensemble methods often provide enhanced performance in reinforcement learning. In this paper, we explore this concept further by using group-aided training within the distributional reinforcement learning paradigm. Specifically, we propose an extension to categorical reinforcement learning, where distributional learning targets ...

Superionic Amorphous Li2ZrCl6 and Li2HfCl6

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Amorphous Li2HfCl6 and L2ZrCl6 are shown to be promising solid‐state electrolytes with predicted ionic conductivities >20 mS·cm−1. Molecular dynamics simulations with machine‐learning force fields reveal that anion vibrations and flexible MCl6 octahedra soften the Li coordination cage and enhance mobility. Correlation between Li‐ion diffusivity and the

Self-poised Ensemble Learning

open access: yes, 2005
This paper proposes a new approach to train ensembles of learning machines in a regression context. At each iteration a new learner is added to compensate the error made by the previous learner in the prediction of its training patterns. The algorithm operates directly over values to be predicted by the next machine to retain the ensemble in the target
