Ensemble Learning with Local Diversity

open access: yes, 2006
The concept of Diversity is now recognized as a key characteristic of successful ensembles of predictors. In this paper we investigate an algorithm to generate diversity locally in regression ensembles of neural networks, which is based on the idea of imposing a neighborhood relation over the set of learners.

Machine Learning‐Supported Analysis for Predicting and Visualizing Nonlinear Relationships Between Material Properties in Electroplated Chromium Layers

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study applies machine learning regression to predict chromium layer thickness in decorative trivalent chromium electroplating, using 441 experiments from laboratory‐scale (1L) and pilot‐scale (14L) setups. Tree‐based models, particularly CatBoost, outperformed linear regression by capturing nonlinear parameter interactions (R2$R^2$ up to 0.77 ...

Improving adaptive bagging methods for evolving data streams

open access: yes, 2009
We propose two new improvements for bagging methods on evolving data streams. Recently, two new variants of Bagging were proposed: ADWIN Bagging and Adaptive-Size Hoeffding Tree (ASHT) Bagging.
