All-Optical Entanglement Swapping

Physical Review Letters, 2022
Entanglement swapping, which is a core component of quantum network and an important platform for testing the foundation of quantum mechanics, can enable the entangling of two independent particles without direct interaction both in discrete variable and continuous variable systems. Conventionally, the realization of entanglement swapping relies on the

Frequency entanglement swapping

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics, 2018
Entanglement swapping of spectrally-entangled photons is experimentally demonstrated. Idler photons from independent entangled pairs are jointly detected after a beamsplitter and frequency filters, projecting the signal photons onto a frequency-bin singlet state.

Experimental Entanglement Swapping: Entangling Photons That Never Interacted

Physical Review Letters, 1998
Summary: We experimentally entangle freely propagating particles that never physically interacted with one another or which have never been dynamically coupled by any other means. This demonstrates that quantum entanglement requires the entangled particles neither to come from a common source nor to have interacted in the past.

Entangle, swap, purify, repeat

Science, 2017
Quantum Optics The key to a successful quantum internet will be the ability to generate robust entanglement between distant quantum memories. Unavoidable interactions with the environment, however, generally result in the loss of entanglement. Kalb et al.

Entanglement Purification via Entanglement Swapping

2003
In this section we aim to generalize the entanglement swapping procedure to continuous variable systems and show that for certain types of pure continuous variable states this process can increase the amount of entanglement between separated parties i.e. achieve entanglement purification.
