Greenhouse Gas and Climate Effects of Global Wetland Restoration Under Future Warming

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 14, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Wetland restoration is a promising nature‐based climate solution because it enhances carbon sequestration and avoids carbon dioxide (CO2 ${\text{CO}}_{2}$) emissions from drained soils. However, wetlands also emit methane (CH4 ${\text{CH}}_{4}$), which can offset these benefits.

The prototype DynamiX camera system – a high‐frame‐rate high‐dynamic‐range hard X‐ray integrating detector for fourth‐generation synchrotrons

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, Volume 33, Issue 5, Page 1392-1405, September 2026.
This paper presents the first results from the DynamiX X‐ray imaging detector developed by the UK's Science and Technology Facilities Council for a new generation of photon light sources. Operating at a continuous frame rate of 534 kHz and with a per‐pixel per‐frame dynamic range of roughly five orders of magnitude, this work is the first step in ...

Iron Ore Pricing in China: Financialization Through a Marxist Lens

open access: yesAbacus, Volume 62, Issue 3, Page 922-956, September 2026.
We offer a Marxist interpretation of financialization as we examine the Chinese market for iron ore and the shift in the pricing mechanism from an annual fixed price to an indexed price from 2010. Drawing upon Marx's theory of the circuit of capital, we illustrate an empirical case of financialization that results from the conflict between social ...

open access: yesAmerican Anthropologist, Volume 128, Issue 3, Page 445-455, September 2026.
ABSTRACT This article draws on understandings of whiteness and the misconstrual of South Central Los Angeles to analyze the power dynamics between “outsider” activists and residents of South Central as they worked toward a more equitable food system.

The Role of Space and Body in Referent Distinction Strategies: A Cross‐Cultural Comparison

open access: yesCognitive Science, Volume 50, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract The emergence of linguistic structure is shaped by interaction and cultural transmission as well as cognitive biases and social conventions. An important aspect of linguistic structure is reference distinction or “who did what to whom.” This paper explores how cross‐cultural differences in the conceptualization of space may influence the ...
