Combining Selective Laser Sintering and Fused Deposition Modeling of Pharmaceutical Polymers: A Novel Approach to Prepare Intestine‐Targeted Tablets

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
Selective laser sintering (SLS) and fused deposition modeling (FDM) are combined to prepare intestine‐targeted tablets with controlled drug release. The SLS‐printed core contains a model drug. The FDM‐printed coating shell modifies drug release and increases tablet mechanical resistance.

Sustainable Shell Formulations as Alternative to the Conventional Soft Gelatin Capsules in Pharmaceutical and Nutraceutical Applications. A Review.

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
In soft capsules (SCs), four crucial factors can modify the properties of the shell: the shell formulation, its interaction with the fill material, the SC production and its storage conditions. Gelatin is the most used gelling agent for SCs nowadays, but they have some drawbacks which can be solved including other alternative polymers in the shell ...

Anti‐Pseudomonas Aeruginosa Bacteriophage Loaded Electrospun Fibers for Antibacterial Wound Dressings

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
Multidrug resistant Pseudomonas (P.) aeruginosa is detected in many infected wounds and is challenging to treat with antibiotics. As an alternative, this work incorporates anti‐P. aeruginosa Neko phages into electrospun fibres to explore their potential for treating infected wounds.

Ion Chemistry in Dielectric Barrier Discharge Ionization: Recent Advances in Direct Gas Phase Analyses

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Dielectric barrier discharge ionization (DBDI) sources, employing low‐temperature plasma, have emerged as sensitive and efficient ionization tools with various atmospheric pressure ionization processes. In this review, we summarize a historical overview of the development of DBDI, highlighting key principles of gas‐phase ion chemistry and the ...
