A blinded randomised controlled trial to determine the effect of enteric coating on enzyme treatment for canine exocrine pancreatic efficiency

open access: yesBMC Veterinary Research, 2012
Background Enzyme treatment is the mainstay for management of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) in dogs. ‘Enteric-coated’ preparations have been developed to protect the enzyme from degradation in the stomach, but their efficacy has not been ...

Time‐Controlled Dual Targeting to Program Systemic and Intercellular Transfer of Therapeutic Effects

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Aspirin‐liposomes loaded onto monocytes enable inflammation‐triggered targeting and efficient hand‐over of aspirin to inflamed cells. Monocytes uptake a significant portion of aspirin‐liposomes, prolonging therapeutic action. This approach enhances anti‐inflammatory effects through intercellular transfer, demonstrating a translational strategy for ...

Harnessing Outer Space for Improved Electrocaloric Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel radiative heat sink/source‐integrated electrocaloric (R‐iEC) system combines the electrocaloric (EC) effect with a thermally conductive radiative cooler (TCRC) to address heat dissipation limitations in EC devices. Utilizing outer space as a heat sink, the system achieves up to 240 W m−2 of heat dissipation performance, making it highly ...

Biologically‐Inspired Melt Electrowriting for the Generation of Highly Biomimetic Functional Myocardium

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, melt electrowriting is used to fabricate a 3D printed scaffold design that generates engineered cardiac tissues with in‐plane contraction, mimicking natural myocardium. It is shown that these tissues display advanced maturation and functionality.

Surviving process and transit: Controlled freeze drying, storage and enteric coated capsules for targeted delivery of probiotic Lactobacillus acidophilus

open access: yesHeliyon
Viability loss of probiotics often occur during processing, storage and gastrointestinal transit. In this study, the viability of freeze-dried Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-5® was assessed after controlled freeze drying and storage at 4 °C and 25 °C over ...

Self‐Cascade Catalytic Reaction–Assisted Apoptosis/Calcicoptosis/Ferroptosis Induction with Microsphere‐Aggregated Hydrogels in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hyaluronic acid‐dopamine‐based intra‐crosslinked microsphere including cisplatin (HPC MS) is fabricated by spray‐drying and calcium/iron ions are introduced for interparticle crosslinking. Designed microsphere‐aggregated hydrogel (MAH) system including cisplatin/CaO2/FeSO4 can provide apoptosis/calcicoptosis/ferroptosis‐mediated chemo/cascade ...
