Migration of an intragastric balloon may necessitate enterotomy for extraction
Journal of Visceral Surgery, 2021Intragastric balloon (IGB) placement for the treatment of obesity is presented as a non-invasive and safe technique leading to significant weight loss. We report a case of an IGB migration that led to small bowel occlusion. Radiological analysis confirmed impaction at 250cm from the angle of Treitz. Enterotomy was necessary to treat the occlusion.
