Morphologically, enthesopathy appears as dystrophic calcification or ossification of tendon insertion. In the study of the initial stages of arthrosis on necroptic material roentgenologically 158 and of these histologically 62 hip joints were investigated. A typical picture of so-called non-inflammatory enthesopathy was present in thirteen cases on the

Histopathology of Murine Ankylosing Enthesopathy
Pathology - Research and Practice, 1998Ankylosing enthesopathy is a spontaneously occurring progressive stiffening of the ankle and/or tarsal joints in mice of C57Black background. In C57BL/10 mice and mice of the same genetic background that had been made transgenic for HLA-B27, the start of the disease was detected by weekly testing for decreased mobility in the ankle/tarsus region ...

Spondyloarthritis and Enthesopathy
Archives of Internal Medicine, 1983Spondyloarthritis (Sp) is newly defined as arthritis that is clinically, pathologically, and genetically related to and predisposed to ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and Reiter's syndrome (RS) rather than to rheumatoid arthritis (RA). A diagnosis of Sp does not necessarily imply arthritis of the spine and does not depend on the demonstration of ...

Enthesopathies and diabetes mellitus.
Clinical and experimental rheumatology, 1995There is evidence of a close relationship between diabetes mellitus and disorders of the insertions of tendons, ligaments and articular capsules into bone (enthesopathies). It has been suggested that these disorders may represent genuine complications of diabetes. We therefore conducted a study to determine whether insertion disorders at the calcaneum (

The Enthesopathy of Ankylosing Spondylitis
Rheumatology, 1983The enthesopathic lesion of ankylosing spondylitis consists of a nonspecific, nongranulomatous inflammatory lesion which leads to destruction of the attachment of ligament to bone. Resulting erosion leads to reactive bone formation which may form a new enthesis and around the outer fibres of the annulus may lead to syndesmophyte formation.

Enthesopathies – Mechanical, inflammatory or both?
Best Practice & Research Clinical RheumatologyEntheses have the challenging task of transferring biomechanical forces between tendon and bone, two tissues that differ greatly in composition and mechanical properties. Consequently, entheses are adapted to withstand these forces through continuous repair mechanisms.

To determine whether patients with leprosy have enthesopathy at the calcaneus of plantar fascia. In a radiographic study of over 3 years, we investigated the presence and location of enthesophytes in patients with leprosy compared to healthy age and sex matched controls with no evidence of bone or joint disease.Calcaneus enthesopathy occurred ...

ENTHESOPATHY: FEATURES OF ETIOPATHOGENESIS.
Process Management and Scientific DevelopmentsSummary data of contemporary literature focuses on enthesopathies. The article describes the issues of etiology, pathogenesis, clinic and diagnosis. The area of enthesis becomes a “weak link” in the apparatus of the periarticular tissues, where under excessive load micro- and macroscopic lesions occur, which subsequently lead to inflammation ...
