Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

The Maximum Term and the Rank of an Entire Function

open access: yes, 1969
1. For an entire function , let M(r, f), μ(r, f), and v(r, f) denote the maximum modulus, the maximum term, and the rank for |z\ = r, respectively. Also, letand λ(r) the lower proximate order relative to log M(r, f).

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

A Criteria-based Measure of Similarity between Product Functionalities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Organised by: Cranfield UniversityToday‘s customers request product functions and not components. A specific, modular description of the product functions and how they are realized becomes widely accepted to track how a product function is realized and

Spectra of algebras of symmetric analytic functions on Cartesian products of Banach spaces of Lebesgue integrable functions

open access: yesResearches in Mathematics
The work is devoted to the study of algebras of entire symmetric functions on Cartesian products of real and complex Banach spaces of Lebesgue integrable functions.

The indicator of entire functions with rapidly oscillating coefficients [PDF]

open access: yesМатематичні Студії, 2011
Let f(z)=∑^∞_{n=0} c_n z^n be an entire function of order ρ_f∈(0,+∞) , let σ_f and h_f(θ) be the type and the indicator of the function f, respectively, let (p_n) be a sequence of positive integers with Hadamard gaps and f_t(z)=∑^∞_{n=0}e^{ip_n t ...

Entire functions on c0

open access: yesJournal of Functional Analysis, 1983
It is shown that every holomorphic function on the Banach space \(c_ 0\) of complex null sequences which is bounded on weakly compact subsets is bounded on bounded subsets of \(c_ 0\). This result answers a question of \textit{R. M. Aron, C. Hérves, M. Valdivia} [J. Funct. Anal. 52, 189-204 (1983; Zbl 0517.46019)] in the negative. The result also shows

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

On solutions of one convolution equation generated by a “deep zero” [PDF]

open access: yesМатематичні Студії, 2013
We consider a convolution type equation in the Smirnov spaces in a semi-strip. We obtain a description of solutions for the case when the characteristic function of the equation has a "deep zero" at infinity.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
