Understanding cation exchange capacity through the landscape lens of the Busoga Catena, Uganda

open access: yesSoil Science Society of America Journal, Volume 90, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
Abstract This study identifies the parent material (PM) and examines cation exchange capacity (CEC) across the Busoga catena. In 2022 and 2023, we described 32 pedons and collected 147 samples. Laboratory analyses were particle size analysis, organic carbon (OC) content, pH, and CEC.

PENGARUH KOMPOS DAUN KEMIRI SUNAN (Reutealis trisperma (Blanco) Airy Shaw) TERHADAP KESUBURAN ENTISOL

open access: yesJTSL (Jurnal Tanah dan Sumberdaya Lahan), 2023
Leaves of Reutealis trisperma (locally known as kemiri Sunan) are potential sources of organic matter and improve soil fertility, especially by increasing soil nutrient availability.

Thermodynamics of phosphate adsorption‐desorption by alfisols, entisols, vertisols, and inceptisols

open access: yesCommunications in Soil Science and Plant Analysis, 1996
Abstract Adsorption and desorption of phosphorous (P) by four types of greek soils, Alfisols, Entisols, Vertisols, and Inceptisols, were the subject of the present investigation. These processes were studied under different conditions of initially added P concentration and at different temperatures.

Ammonium phosphate fertilizers are a more effective phosphorus source than superphosphate for wheat grown on acidic gravelly soils

open access: yesSoil Science Society of America Journal, Volume 90, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
Abstract Selecting the most effective phosphorus (P) fertilizer source is essential for maximizing crop yields. However, there is little information to guide the choice between the widely used soluble granular sources: ammonium phosphates and superphosphates.

Entisol Chemical Properties on the System Organic Agriculture

open access: yesInternational Journal of Science and Society, 2020
Agricultural systems based on high input energy materials (fossil materials) such as chemical fertilizers and pesticides can damage soil properties and will ultimately reduce soil productivity in the future. Alternative agricultural systems that use low input energy (low input energy) are believed to be able to maintain soil fertility and environmental

Pedotransfer functions for estimating the maximum bulk density of major Brazilian agricultural soils: Model comparison and validation

open access: yesSoil Science Society of America Journal, Volume 90, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
Abstract The Proctor compaction test is the standard method for determining the maximum bulk density (Dbmax) of a soil, a key parameter for obtaining the degree of compaction. However, this method is labor‐intensive and time‐consuming, making it impractical for routine soil quality assessment.

Mycorrhizal inoculation under water stress conditions and its influence on the benefit of host microbe symbiosis of Terminalia arjuna species

open access: yesBulletin of the National Research Centre, 2023
Background Entisol is a very poor, compact, and low-water-holding capacity soil. They are obstacles to the plant's root system's penetration and the availability of water, particularly in dry months.

Pedogeomorphology of semiarid soils of Ulu Peninsula, James Ross Island, Antarctica

open access: yesSoil Science Society of America Journal, Volume 90, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
Abstract Located in a transitional climatic zone of the Antarctic continent, James Ross Island (JRI) presents soils that reflect complex interactions between lithology, topography, and pedogenesis. This study characterizes soils along a toposequence to evaluate how slope position and parent material control soil properties and weathering patterns in a ...
