Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?

Isolated Lesser Trochanteric Fracture- A rare but possible clinical entity in adults

open access: yesInternational Journal of Endorsing Health Science Research, 2015
Isolated Trochanteric Fracture is a rare clinical entity in adults especially when it occurs due to trauma. Isolated traumatic fracture of lesser trochanter has been reported very rarely in the literature, as usually in adults, it is associated with ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

The Separation of Entity and Essence in Avicenna’s Philosophy along with a Critique of Étienne Gilson’s Impression [PDF]

open access: yesحکمت اسرا, 2013
Indeed studying the philosophical ideas of a philosopher requires a sufficient knowledge of the logics governing those ideas and their basic principles.

Explore Entity Embedding Effectiveness in Entity Retrieval [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This paper explores entity embedding effectiveness in ad-hoc entity retrieval, which introduces distributed representation of entities into entity retrieval. The knowledge graph contains lots of knowledge and models entity semantic relations with the well-formed structural representation.

Corpora and evaluation tools for multilingual named entity grammar development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We present an effort for the development of multilingual named entity grammars in a unification-based finite-state formalism (SProUT). Following an extended version of the MUC7 standard, we have developed Named Entity Recognition grammars for German ...

Unsupervised Named-Entity Recognition: Generating Gazetteers and Resolving Ambiguity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this paper, we propose a named-entity recognition (NER) system that addresses two major limitations frequently discussed in the field. First, the system requires no human intervention such as manually labeling training data or creating gazetteers ...

Spatial and single‐nuclei transcriptomics reveals idiosyncratic and generic patterns in papillary and anaplastic thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Matched spatial transcriptomics and single‐nuclei RNA‐seq were generated for anaplastic and BRAFV600E papillary thyroid cancers revealing generic and tumor‐specific states occurring in cancer cells and in the tumor microenvironment. In this context, cancer dedifferentiation mirrored organoid maturation through ordered thyroid marker gain/loss ...
