The ovary ofCatajapyx aquilonaris (Insecta, Entognatha): ultrastructure of germarium and terminal filament

Zoomorphology, 1992
Each of the two ovaries ofCatajapyx aquilonaris is composed of seven segmentally (metamerically) arranged ovarioles. The two lateral oviducts that join and bear ovarioles extend throughout the abdomen. In the ovariole three regions can be recognized: the terminal filament, the germarium and the vitellarium.

Effects of Transgenic Herbicide-Resistant Soybean Varieties and Systems on Surface-Active Springtails (Entognatha: Collembola)

Environmental Entomology, 2002
The degree of abundance and diversity of springtails (order Collembola) often indicates the extent of disturbance by various agricultural practices. We examined how transgenic herbicide-tolerant soybean varieties and their associated weed management systems affect the abundance of 21 surface-active springtail species during three successive soybean ...

Microhabitats of Collembola (Insecta: Entognatha) in beech and spruce forests and their influence on biodiversity

European Journal of Soil Biology, 2001
Abstract Collembolan communities were studied in 41 microhabitats in beech and spruce forests of south (Žofin and Sumava) and central (Jevany) Bohemia. The communities of Collembola were analysed using TWINSPAN and CANOCO programs. The aim of this study was to establish differences between patch (microhatitat) communities and the main forest ...

Mitochondrial genome data alone are not enough to unambiguously resolve the relationships of Entognatha, Insecta and Crustacea sensu lato (Arthropoda)

Cladistics, 2004
AbstractAn analysis of the relationships of the major arthropod groups was undertaken using mitochondrial genome data to examine the hypotheses that Hexapoda is polyphyletic and that Collembola is more closely related to branchiopod crustaceans than insects.
