Progress in entransy theory and its applications [PDF]

open access: hybridScience Bulletin, 2012
The entransy and entransy dissipation extremum principle proposed have opened up a new direction for the heat transfer optimization. The emergence and development of entransy theory are reviewed. Entransy theory and its applications are summarized from several aspects, such as heat conduction, heat convective, heat radiation, heat exchanger design and ...

Entransy - a Novel Theory in Heat Transfer Analysis and Optimization [PDF]

open access: hybrid, 2011
It has been estimated that, of all the worldwide energy utilization, more than 80% involves the heat transfer process, and the thermal engineering has for a long time recognized the huge potential for conserving energy and decreasing CO2 release so as to reduce the global warming effect through heat transfer efficiency techniques (Bergles, 1988, 1997 ...

Entransy Dissipation Theory and Its Application in Heat Transfer [PDF]

open access: hybrid, 2011
In this chapter, our recent work on the entransy dissipation theory and its application in heat convection and the heat exchanger design is reviewed. In that work, the thermodynamic basis of the entransy dissipation theory is established. It is shown that the entransy is a state variable and the second law of thermodynamics can be described by the ...

Application of entransy theory in the heat transfer optimization of flat-plate solar collectors [PDF]

open access: hybridChinese Science Bulletin, 2012
The flat-plate solar collector is an important component in solar-thermal systems, and its heat transfer optimization is of great significance in terms of the efficiency of energy utilization. However, most existing flat-plate collectors adopt metallic absorber plates with uniform thickness, which often works against energy conservation. In this paper,

Constructal Equivalent Thermal Resistance Minimization for Tau-Shaped Fin [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy, 2020
With the aid of constructal theory and entransy theory, a Tau-shaped fin (TAUSF) is investigated in this paper, and the widths of the bend end and elemental fins are assumed to be different.

Irreversibility and Action of the Heat Conduction Process [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
Irreversibility (that is, the “one-sidedness” of time) of a physical process can be characterized by using Lyapunov functions in the modern theory of stability.

Geometry Optimization of Self-Similar Transport Network [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2011, Issue 1, 2011., 2011
We optimize geometries of various self-similar transport networks using a three-step strategy based on the entransy theory. Using this optimization method, we obtained optimal relationships of geometric parameters of T-shape networks for fluid flow, heat

Discussion on the application of entransy theory to heat-work conversion processes

open access: hybridActa Physica Sinica, 2014
Applications and limitations of the entransy theory for heat-work conversion processes are analyzed and discussed in this paper. Our analyses for the Carnot cycle show that the system entransy of the Carnot cycle is in balance, but the relationship, dG=T2dS, does not exsit between the concepts of entransy and entropy.
