One-step thermochemical activation of waste wood for micropollutant adsorption: Optimisation via design of experiments

open access: yesCase Studies in Chemical and Environmental Engineering
The increasing generation of waste wood (WW) and the demand for activated carbon (AC) in wastewater treatment highlight the need for sustainable alternatives. WW was converted into AC via one-step thermochemical activation using carbon dioxide, steam, or

ERM Inhibition Confers Ferroptosis Resistance through ROS‐Induced NRF2 Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ERM inhibition disrupts ERM‐actin interactions, elevating ROS and triggering KEAP1 degradation, which stabilizes and activates NRF2. Nuclear NRF2 induces cytoprotective genes, notably HMOX1, enhancing redox buffering and suppressing lipid peroxidation to resist erastin‐induced ferroptosis.

A Perspective on the Applications of Triphasic Gas Storage in Electrochemical Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gas storage in microporous materials positioned locally at an electrode or electrocatalyst surface enhances electrochemical processes. Abstract Microporous materials store gases under dry conditions (e.g., hydrogen or oxygen via physisorption), but in some cases microporous materials also show triphasic (e.g., in a solid|gas|liquid system) gas storage ...

Orientation‐Confinement‐Engineered Stabilization of Ferroelectricity in HfO2 toward Maximum Polarization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ferroelectric phase stability in Hf₀.5Zr₀.5O2 films is enhanced by confinement to the (111) crystal orientation, as demonstrated by first‐principles calculations and experiments. Polarization approaching its maximum value is achieved through selective ferroelectric switching paths, which are further tuned by oxygen vacancies and cation doping to ...
