Experimental and support vector machine predictions of entropy generations and exergy efficiency of Fe3O4–SiO2/Water hybrid nanofluid in a plate heat exchanger

open access: yesHeliyon, 2023
Several experiments of Fe3O4–SiO2/water hybrid nanofluids with volumetric concentrations ranging from 0.2 % to 1.0 % circulating in the cold-side of a plate heat exchanger at flow rates ranging from 0.05 kg/s to 0.1166 kg/s are performed.

Energy and entropy generation analysis in a supercapacitor for different operating conditions

open access: yes, 2022
Sustainability and efficiency are the key issues concerning performance and lifetime of supercapacitors. In this work, an entropy generation analysis is implemented for the first time in the supercapacitor cell, aiming at facilitating the design and ...

The Concavity of Generalized Entropy Powers

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 2022
In this note we introduce a new family of entropy powers which are related to generalized entropies, called Sharma-Mittal entropies, and we prove their concavity along diffusion processes generated by $L^2$-Wasserstein gradient flows of corresponding entropy functionals.

Performance analysis of micro-fin tubes compared to smooth tubes as a heat transfer enhancement technique for flow condensation

open access: yesEnergy Nexus, 2022
Heat transfer enhancement techniques are accompanied by pressure drop amplification, detrimentally affecting their performance; entropy generation analysis is an effective approach to assess heat transfer enhancement along with resulting pressure drop ...

Additive generalization of the Boltzmann entropy [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2003
There exists only one generalization of the classical Boltzmann-Gibbs-Shannon entropy functional to a one-parametric family of additive entropy functionals. We find analytical solution to the corresponding extension of the classical ensembles, and discuss in some detail the example of the deformation of the uncorrelated state.

Optimal Design of Nanoparticle Enhanced Phan-Thien–Tanner Flow of a Viscoelastic Fluid in a Microchannel

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
The excellent thermal characteristics of nanoparticles have increased their application in the field of heat transfer. In this paper, a thermophysical and geometrical parameter study is performed to minimize the total entropy generation of the ...

Analysis of entropy generation in a power-law nanofluid flow over a stretchable rotatory porous disk

open access: yes, 2021
A theoretical entropy generation analysis is conducted by applying the MHD and nonlinear thermal radiation effects contained in porous material for a steady three-dimensional power-law nanofluid flow near the stagnation point region.

Performance optimization of centrifugal pump based on particle swarm optimization and entropy generation theory

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2023
Centrifugal pumps are frequently utilized in general machinery, but they have issues with low efficiency, unstable operation, and high-power consumption in actual engineering, making performance improvements necessary.

Generalized graph entropies

open access: yesComplexity, 2011
AbstractThis article deals with generalized entropies for graphs. These entropies result from applying information measures to a graph using various schemes for defining probability distributions over the elements (e.g., vertices) of the graph. We introduce a new class of generalized measures, develop their properties, compute the measures for selected
