On an extension problem, generalized fourier analysis, and an entropy formula

Integral Equations and Operator Theory, 1980
Let h(t) be an n × n matrix valued function on the interval |t| ⩽ τ with summable entries. Let ĥ denote the Fourier transform of h and let e denote the n × n identity matrix. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of an extension u of h to the full line such that e-u admits either a left or a right canonical factorization and the inverse

Landslide Stability Analysis Based on Generalized Information Entropy

2009 International Conference on Environmental Science and Information Application Technology, 2009
Landslide is a kind of serious geologic disaster. In the viewpoint of system theory, the landslides may be regarded as a nonlinear open system, and they are ceaselessly exchanging information and energy with their surrounding environment and inside of themselves.

Entropy generation analysis in flow of thixotropic nanofluid

International Journal of Numerical Methods for Heat & Fluid Flow, 2019
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to address entropy generation in flow of thixotropic nonlinear radiative nanoliquid over a variable stretching surface with impacts of inclined magnetic field, Joule heating, viscous dissipation, heat source/sink and chemical reaction. Characteristics of nanofluid are described by Brownian motion and thermophoresis

Entropy generation analysis of an adsorption cooling cycle

International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2013
Abstract This paper discusses the analysis of an adsorption (AD) chiller using system entropy generation as a thermodynamic framework for evaluating total dissipative losses that occurred in a batch-operated AD cycle. The study focuses on an adsorption cycle operating at heat source temperatures ranging from 60 to 85 °C, whilst the chilled water ...

Analysis of Entropy Generation Mechanisms in a Desiccant Wheel

This work presents a novel detailed analysis of entropy generation mechanisms in a desiccant wheel (DW) by the the direct method, enabling differentiation of entropy sources by type and location. A detailed model of the desiccant-based system, implemented in Modelica, is used to compute entropy generation from various phenomena.

Analysis of Entropy Generation in Annular Porous Duct

Transport in Porous Media, 2015
This paper presents an analytical solution of the velocity and temperature fields in terms of the modified Bessel functions by including the viscous as well as the Darcy dissipations of a fully developed viscous and incompressible fluid, flowing between horizontal concentric annular ducts filled with a saturated porous medium.

Entropy Generation Analysis for Nanofluid Flow in Microchannels

Journal of Heat Transfer, 2010
Employing a validated computer simulation model, entropy generation is analyzed in trapezoidal microchannels for steady laminar flow of pure water and CuO-water nanofluids. Focusing on microchannel heat sink applications, local and volumetric entropy rates caused by frictional and thermal effects are computed for different coolants, inlet temperatures,

Entropy generation analysis of laser evaporative heating

Exergy, An International Journal, 2002
Abstract Laser pulse heating offers considerable advantages over the conventional heating methods. This is due to their operational precision and local treatment. In order to improve the energy efficient processing, entropy analysis of the laser heating is essential.
