Entropy of Mixing of Nonideal Solutions

Physical Review A, 1972
The entropy of mixing is calculated for two nonideal two-dimensional mixtures. System I consists of two different monomers with nearest-neighbor interactions between different monomers, and system II of monomers and tetramers without interactions. The entropies of mixing are evaluated exactly for strips of various heights. An extrapolation technique is

Entropy of Mixing of Liquid Alloys

physica status solidi (b), 1982
AbstractAn analysis of the concentration dependence of the entropy of mixing, based on the idea of excess volume formation on alloying the hard spheres of different diameters, is presented. Flory's formula for the entropy of mixing provides unsatisfactory results also due to incorrect estimation of excess volume formation in the theory.

Entropy and entropy of mixing

Materialwissenschaft und Werkstofftechnik, 2014
Entropy as a function of temperature at constant volume, S(T), can be determined by integrating the molar specific entropy capacity CV/T (CV: molar specific heat capacity at constant volume). As a second approach, S(T) at constant volume can be determined by differentiating the free energy with respect to the temperature, T. Recently, it has been shown

Ideal entropy of mixing

Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1989
Abstract The entropy of mixing of chain-propagating atoms and chain-terminating atoms on a one-dimensional lattice is calculated. The ideal entropy as a function of the mole fraction of either atom is not symmetric about 1 2 .

FLUCTUATIONS OF THE METRIC ENTROPY FOR MIXING MEASURES

Stochastics and Dynamics, 2004
It is known from the theorem of Shannon–McMillan–Breiman that the measure of cylinder sets decays in the limit exponentially with a rate which is given by the metric entropy. Here we prove that the measure of cylinders satisfies a Central Limit Theorem for a wide class of mixing measures which do not necessarily have the Gibbs property.

Entropy of Mixing of Distinguishable Particles

Journal of Chemical Education, 2014
The molar entropy of mixing yields values that depend only on the number of mixing components rather than on their chemical nature. To explain this phenomenon using the logic of chemistry, this article considers mixing of distinguishable particles, thus complementing the well-known approach developed for nondistinguishable particles, for example, ideal

Excess Entropy of Mixing of Liquids

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1965
An expression for the excess entropy for mixing isothermally two liquids was obtained from the entropy of mixing two fluids of rigid spheres, each at the volume of the corresponding liquid components, to form a solution of rigid spheres the volume of which was that of the liquid solution.

Renyi entropy properties of mixed systems

Communications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 2016
ABSTRACTThis paper deals with Renyi information properties of mixed systems when lifetimes of components are independent and identically distributed. The provided results are obtained by using the concept of Samaniego’s signature. Stochastic comparisons of Renyi entropy for mixed systems are discussed provided that both systems have the same signature.

Work of separation and entropy of mixing

Russian Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2007
A relationship between the thermodynamically estimated work of separation and the entropy of mixing of the components of the mixture was derived.
