Keyboard entry

Applied Ergonomics, 1971
Many recent studies of keyboard entry are summarized with particular emphasis on performance data and fundamental questions about the design of keyboards. The role of auditory and visual feedback and physiological measurements are reviewed. Typical speed and error rates are given for several types of situations and operators.

Untimely Entry

The Journal of Industrial Economics, 1991
Recent research indicates that when entrants incur set-up costs there is a tendency for oligopolistic industries to support too many firms. This is because incumbents accommodate entrants by reducing their output and making entry profitable beyond the point where it is socially efficient.

Viral Entry

Epstein-Barr virus chiefly infects B cells and epithelial cells but is capable of infecting other cell types in the human host. Host cell entry is a complex process mediated by several viral glycoproteins that define tropism and mediate membrane fusion.

Entry and Entry Deterrence in Penetrable Markets

Economica, 1988
This paper presents a game theoretic model of entry. A potential entrant into a given market is postulated to be a currently produci ng firm, whose product is a substitute on the production side for the good being sold in the market. An entrant is capable of switching pr oduction between markets faster than firms in general can adjust thei r total ...

Data Entry through Chord, Parallel Entry Devices

Human Factors: The Journal of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, 1964
This paper outlines the areas which must be considered in weighing the advantages and disadvantages of chord keyboard devices with respect to one-key-at-a-time devices such as the standard typewriter. These areas include: information per stroke, stroke rate, motor difficulty of chord strokes, motor learning for chord keying, memorization of code ...
