Nitrogen, soils and environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The article discusses the risk of damaging the environment brought by nitrogen fertilisers which are used for increasing agricultural productivity. The oxidation of ammonium allows for the formation of nitrate. Troposphere ozone and aerosols are produced

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Work Environments

open access: yes, 2012
AbstractWork environment research is a vibrant area not only within environmental psychology, but also in a broad range of building sciences concerned with making buildings work for their inhabitants. Understanding how work environments affect comfort, satisfaction, performance, and health comes through the study of such processes as privacy, attention,

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli Antibio-Resistance Induced by Copper.

open access: yesRevista de Producción Animal, 2016
Cupric sulfate is widely used as growth promoter for swine productions, in spite of its ecological risks. The purpose of this paper was to evaluate the in vitro effect of copper as inducer of antibio-resistance in Enterotoxigenic. E. coli. A-1 (O149: K91:

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Uranium exploration, non-governmental organizations, and local communities. The origin, anatomy, and consequences of a new challenge in Finland [PDF]

open access: yesEstonian Journal of Earth Sciences, 2008
The advent of global warming has returned nuclear power to the agenda. Many countries, including Finland, have decided to construct more nuclear power plants. They will need uranium, and its price is rising in the international market.
