The conditions for functional mechanisms of compensation and reward for environmental services [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Mechanisms of compensation and reward for environmental services (CRES) are becoming increasingly contemplated as means for managing human–environment interactions.

Beyond Earth: Resilience of Quasi‐2D Perovskite Solar Cells in Space

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In the article (DOI: 10.1002/adma.202520433), Christoph Putz and co‐workers demonstrate rigid quasi‐2D perovskite solar cells operating in low Earth orbit, delivering stable power for more than 100 days under real‐space conditions. In‐orbit performance is correlated with extensive ground‐based thermal and proton‐irradiation studies on rigid and ...

Serotonergic System‐Targeted Nucleic Acid Hydrogel Coordinates Excitability Restoration and Circuit Reconstruction for Spinal Cord Injury Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The study reports a DNA/RNA heteroduplex hydrogel (SeroPTEN‐CG) that undergoes DNase‐mediated hydrogel‐to‐nanogel transition for spinal cord injury therapy by targeting the serotonergic system, combining 5‐hydroxytryptamine (5‐HT)‐mediated excitability restoration to reactivate dormant interneurons with phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN)‐targeted ...

Ultra‐Sensitive Nanofiber‐Based Triboelectric Nanogenerator for Energy Harvesting and Self‐Powered Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A multidimensional molecular strategy optimizes the tribonegative layer by electrospinning PVDF‐HFP for dipole alignment and crystallinity, followed by 2D borophene doping to enhance conductivity and charge trapping. Integrated with Nylon‐66 nanofibers, the composite device delivers a record sensitivity of 53.8 ± 1.2 V kPa−1 at 3 Hz, enabling ultra ...

Cultures within a culture: the role of nationality and religion for environmentally significant behaviour in students living in university accommodation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Reducing global warming cannot be achieved through technological interventions alone; it requires a change in human behaviour. Households are a major contributor to carbon emissions, and thus play an integral part in strategies aiming at a more ...

Place effects on environmental views [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
How people respond to questions involving the environment depends partly on individual characteristics. Characteristics such as age, gender, education, and ideology constitute the well-studied social bases of environmental concern, which have been ...

Environmental Attitudes and Environmentally Sensitive Television Commercials

open access: yes, 2020

Hydrogel‐Based 3D‐Printable Stretchable Pressure Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
We present a carbon‐black‐functionalized double‐network granular hydrogel (DNGH) pressure sensor capable of detecting pressures from 200 Pa, equivalent to a light finger touch, up to 500 kPa. The sensor exhibits signal drifts below 3.5% after 800 cycles and response times around 80 ms. Leveraging this broad sensing range, we 3D print this material into
