Perspectives on Environmental Earth System Dynamics

Global and Planetary Change, 2000
The quantification of geohazards and water resources in intraplate areas requires an integrated approach connecting monitoring, reconstruction and prediction of underlying processes. Intraplate rifts such as the Northwestern European rift system and coastal areas such as the Rhine - Meuse delta system are characterized by an interplay of climatic ...

Environmental Statics and Dynamics

2022
This chapter introduces statics and dynamics, applying them to environmental and engineering systems. Environmental mechanics and forces are discussed regarding both natural and human-designed systems. Fundamental concepts of physics, such as scalar and vector quantities, mechanics and kinetics, and forces are discussed.

The Dynamics of Environmental Campaigns

Mobilization: An International Quarterly, 2002
Environmental movements and their activities are studied from various angles, by different methods, and at different levels. While both detailed studies on single incidents of conflict and broad overviews of movements are available, relatively little work has been done at the intermediate level between these extremes.

Environmental Setting and Dynamics

2016
This book aims to integrate natural and cultural history, yet logically some aspects of natural history have existed long before human beings ever existed, as certainly was the case in the Mariana Islands that were uninhabited prior to approximately 1500 B.C.

Dynamics of Environmental Negotiations

2001
Multilateral negotiations are designed to establish a set of goals and formal mechanisms for implementing policy options. The content, types and nature of agreements reflect interactive processes of combining diverse interests and values. International environmental negotiation constitutes a multi-faceted process: parties should agree on a set of facts

Environmental Policy, Population Dynamics and Agglomeration

Contributions in Economic Analysis & Policy, 2003
Abstract We present and discuss a simple model of international trade in agricultural and manufactured commodities. Production of the latter takes places under monopolistic competition, and causes pollution. We incorporate mobility of skilled labor, the input in the manufacturing sector.

The effect of environmental dynamism on evolution and evolvability

2011 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 2011
This paper describes a series of simulation experiments examining the effect of environmental dynamism on evolution and evolvability. Decreasing dynamism had a modest positive effect on evolution which was enhanced when mutation rate was decreased and culling was increased.

Local Environmental Dynamics

2003
The eight chapters comprising this section of the book provide an overview of the range of contemporary disturbance regimes in the terrestrial ecosystems of northern North America and Russia. For the most part, the authors discuss relatively long-term patterns of vegetation and soil recovery and rehabilitation.

DELAY POPULATION DYNAMICS AND ENVIRONMENTAL NOISE

Stochastics and Dynamics, 2005
In this paper we review our recent research on stochastic delay population dynamics. The main aim is to reveal that a different type of environmental noise has a different effect on delay population systems.
