Integration of circadian and hypoxia signaling via non‐canonical heterodimerization
CLOCK, BMAL1, and HIFs are basic helix‐loop‐helix and Per‐Arnt‐Sim domain (bHLH‐PAS) proteins, which function as transcription factors. bHLH‐PAS proteins are designated in two classes. Many class I proteins are regulated by environmental signals via their PAS domains, but such signals have not been identified for all.

Mediterranean cyclones are a substantial cause of damaging floods in Corsica
Cyclones, whether tropical, extratropical, or of Mediterranean origin, play a crucial role in the Earth’s climate system, affecting environments and populations through strong winds, heavy rainfall, and flooding.

Multidrug transporters BpeB and BpeF from the Gram‐negative pathogen Burkholderia pseudomallei have a hydrophilic patch in their substrate‐binding pocket. Drug susceptibility tests and growth curve analyses using an Escherichia coli recombinant expression system revealed that the hydrophilic patches of BpeB and BpeF are involved in the substrate ...

Biophysical Modelling and Performance Measurement [PDF]
Agricultural production, by its nature, impacts both positively and negatively on the environment. Impacts can be point source or diffuse; however all should be considered in performance measurement.

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Assessing the environmental impacts of invasive alien plants: a review of assessment approaches
Assessing the impacts of alien plant species is a major task in invasion science and vitally important for supporting invasion-related policies. Since 1993, a range of assessment approaches have been developed to support decisions on the introduction or ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
