The Environmental Kuznets Curve semi-parametrically revisited [PDF]
This paper re-examines the existence of an Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) across countries using a semi-parametric regression estimator, which places no restrictions on the functional form. Our results using crosscountry panel data on Sulfur and Carbon Dioxide strongly suggest that the relationship between wealth and environmental degradation is

The environmental Kuznets curve
1998The current interest in the relationship between per capita income and environmental quality is a logical extension of a debate about the environmental implications of economic growth that has punctuated the literature in environmental economics over the last three decades.

Environmental awareness and environmental Kuznets curve
Economic Modelling, 2019Abstract We study the impacts of environmental awareness on environmental quality and income-pollution relationship. For our theoretical analysis, we examine a non-cooperative transboundary pollution control game between a less developed country (LDC) and a more developed country (MDC), and find that a higher level of environmental awareness by the ...

The Environmental Kuznets Curve with Environmental Spillovers
2010 4th International Conference on Bioinformatics and Biomedical Engineering, 2010In this paper, we extend Hartman, Kwon(2005) endogenous growth model in a straightforward way to include endogenous technical change. The planner chooses the fraction of physical capital to control pollution generated by production output process, human capital and technical capital are produced cleanly.

Corruption and the environmental Kuznets Curve: Empirical evidence for sulfur
Ecological Economics, 2010We investigate how corruption influences the income level at the turning point of the relationship between sulfur emissions and income, using a wide cross-national panel of countries, at different levels of development and with different degrees of corruption. Our results support the Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis for sulfur.

Is there an environmental Kuznets curve for sulfur? [PDF]
The environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis proposes that there is an inverted U-shape relation between environmental degradation and income per capita. Various explanations for this phenomenon have been put forward and some authors argue that important explanatory variables are omitted from conventional EKC estimates.

The Environmental Kuznets Curve
QA, 2006The Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) represents a much debated research hypothesis. The article reviews the literature, starting from the theoretical background, represented by optimal growth models, models with environment as a factor of production, endogenous growth models and other macroeconomic models. The main criticisms of the EKC hypothesis are
