Environmental protection through criminal law [PDF]

open access: yesZbornik Radova: Pravni Fakultet u Novom Sadu, 2011
Environmental protection is undoubtedly one of the priorities of today, both nationally and internationally. Environment is understood as the totality of natural and man-made values. Environment is primarily protected through administrative and civil law.

International Environmental Law in an Era of Globalized Waste

open access: yesChinese Journal of International Law, 2018
In an era of globalized waste, international environmental law’s main function is not simply to protect and preserve nature and the environment. Rather, it should be conceived of as a set of norms, institutions, and practices designed to manage waste on ...

Laboratory‐Scale Procedure for Evaluating the Flux Efficiency on Melt Cleanliness and Tensile Properties of Recycled Aluminum Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A laboratory‐scale procedure is developed to evaluate the efficiency of melt‐cleaning and drossing fluxes during aluminium alloy recycling, studying their effects on melt cleanliness and tensile properties of secondary foundry alloys. This work provides a practical tool for foundries and aluminium refiners to assess the efficiency of salt fluxes in ...

Magnetoactive Metamaterials: A State‐of‐the‐Art Review

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetoactive metamaterials combine magnetoactive composites with architected metastructures to enable contactless, tunable control of mechanical, acoustic, and elastic properties. This review highlights recent advances in their design, fabrication, and applications in soft robotics, biomedical devices, and adaptive structures and outlines future ...

Cobalt Tungstate Characterization Using Matryoshka‐Structure Filter

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The green synthesis of cobalt tungstate (CoWO4) using natural polymerizing agents from agar–agar and commercial produces environmentally friendly materials with tunable structural and electromagnetic properties. X‐ray diffraction and Rietveld refinement correlate crystal structure with microwave transmission losses in Matryoshka‐type filters.

Distributed, Nega-, and Reclaimed: Setting Expectations in the New Resource Base [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
At this point in time, environmental law faces the task of drawing a budget for living within our resource means, and this budget will be tightly stretched. It must provide energy, water, food, and materials to a growing population; it must cope with the

Numerical Model and Experimental Validation of Composite Metal Foam in Protecting Carbon Steel Against Puncture

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The puncture prevention and energy absorption performance of composite metal foam (CMF) are studied experimentally and numerically for hazardous materials transportation protection. The numerical model implementing air within the CMF (nonhomogeneous model using fluid cavity technique) predicts puncture more accurately compared to the homogeneous CMF ...

Enhancing Fatigue Performance by Tuning of Residual Stresses in Welded Joints through Nanometallic Multilayer

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the fundamental mechanisms of a novel postweld treatment that significantly enhances fatigue performance through engineered residual stress (RS) states. A multiscale approach correlates tensile RS in the nanometallic multilayer coating with corresponding compressive RS in the steel substrate, thereby reducing localized stress ...

Environmental Obligations of Transnational Corporations in International Environmental Law [PDF]

open access: yesFaṣlnāmah-i Pizhūhish-i Huqūq-i ̒Umūmī, 2015
One of the most controversial issues about transnational corporations is their environmental performance, sometimes leading to irreparable damages. This issue has been the concern for many developing countries, as the capital importing countries, and the
