Prunus salicina Lindl. (P. salicina) is an essential cash crop in China, and brown rot (BR) is one of its most important diseases. In this study, we collected geographic location information on P. salicina and Monilinia fructicola (G.

The measurement of averages and extremes of environmental variables
The relationship between the statistics of environmental measurements averaged over different time scales is related to extreme levels of the variables. Results on the asymptotic joint distributions of extreme averages over different time periods are treated.

Spatio-Temporal Variability of Chlorophyll-A and Environmental Variables in the Panama Bight [PDF]
The analysis of synoptic satellite data of total chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) and the environmental drivers that influence nutrient and light availability for phytoplankton growth allows us to understand the spatio-temporal variability of phytoplankton biomass.

Environmental Correlates of Physiological Variables in Marsupials [PDF]
We analyzed body temperature (T(b)), basal metabolic rate (BMR), wet thermal conductance (C(wet)), and evaporative water loss (EWL) of marsupials by conventional and phylogenetically corrected regression. Allometric effects were substantial for BMR, C(wet), and EWL but not T(b).

Niche Overlap as a Function of Environmental Variability [PDF]
The relationship between environmental variability and niche overlap is studied for a class of model biological communities in which several species compete on a one-dimensional continuum of resources, e.g., food size. In a strictly unvarying (deterministic) environment, there is in general no limit to the degree of overlap, short of complete ...
