Local Zoning and Environmental Justice
Urban Affairs Review, 2013This article presents an agent-based computational analysis of the effects of externality zoning on environmental justice (EJ). We experiment with two ideal types of externality zoning: proactive and reactive. In the absence of zoning, environmental injustice emerges and minority agents have lower average environmental quality than majority agents ...

Environmental zoning: The Dutch struggle towards integration
European Planning Studies, 1993A major problem confronting effective urban development is posed by conflicts which often emerge between environmental policy and land use planning. Environmental control seeks to reduce pollution and limit its intrusion on other activities, often separating pollution sources from environmentally sensitive areas.

Environmental Monitoring in Urban Coastal Zone
2010Coastal water receives a large number of pollutants from urban area which have a potentially adverse effect on water quality and aquatic ecosystems. The sources of the discharge of such pollutants are categorized into two types: point and non-point sources.

Epidemiology and environmental aspects of marginal zone lymphomas
Best Practice & Research Clinical Haematology, 2017Marginal zone lymphomas (MZLs) account for between 5% and 17% of all non-Hodgkin's lymphomas. MZLs consist of 3 different subtypes with extranodal being the most commonly reported, representing 50-70% of MZL, followed by splenic (20%) and nodal (10%).

Erosion Risk Mapping Applied to Environmental Zoning
Water Resources Management, 2010Water erosion caused by inappropriate land use compromises the ecosystems and causes economic and social losses. To remedy this, the present study proposes (i) the evaluation of the erosion risk in an Environmental Protection Area (EPA) with the combination of Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE), soil loss tolerance (T) estimates adapted to Brazilian ...

The Dutch Integral Environmental Zoning Project
1992In the Netherlands, environmental zoning of sources of pollution is becoming more accepted. The concept of risk management is used to establish quantitative acceptability criteria for different agents in the sectoral policies. An example is the sectoral external safety policy for hazardous activities, with established limit values for (un)acceptable ...

Review: Environmental tracers in arid-zone hydrology
Hydrogeology Journal, 2010Application of environmental tracers to arid-zone hydrology over the past several decades is reviewed, with particular reference to the Australian continent. Some notable successes in the application of stable and radio-isotopes include identifying arid-zone groundwater as palaeowaters, understanding the importance of episodicity and of large flood ...

Environmental dispersion in a two-zone wetland
Ecological Modelling, 2011Abstract As an extension of the modelling on environmental dispersion in a single zone wetland [Zeng, L., Chen, G.Q., 2009. Ecological degradation and hydraulic dispersion of contaminant in wetland. Ecol. Model., 222, 293–300], the typical case of a pulsed contaminant emission into a steady flow through a distinctively vegetated two-zone shallow ...

Export Processing Zones and Environmental Policy [PDF]
This paper investigates the relation between an export processing zone and a pollution quota in a small country. The model suppose that the pollution target is implemented with a marketable permit system, and the government sets the quota to maximize domestic welfare.
