Characterization of dermatan sulfate and chondroitin sulfate profiles during brain regeneration in Styela plicata

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Adult ascidians are capable of regenerating their entire brains following injury, and glycosaminoglycans have been shown to either promote or inhibit neuritogenesis. In this study, dermatan 2,6‐disulfate (D2,6S) was identified as the predominant complex carbohydrate in the ascidian brain.

Beyond the whole-mount phenotype: high-resolution imaging in fluorescence-based applications on zebrafish

open access: yesBiology Open, 2019
Zebrafish is now widely used in biomedical research as a model for human diseases, but the relevance of the model depends on a rigorous analysis of the phenotypes obtained.

Analysis of ADVIA Myeloperoxidase Cytogram LUC Angle Does Not Distinguish Acute Myeloid Leukemia From Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia or Lymphoblastic Lymphoma in Dogs

open access: yesVeterinary Clinical Pathology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is difficult to distinguish from lymphoblastic leukemia or lymphoma (LL) on morphologic features alone. Therapeutic approaches for AML versus LL differ, and immediate therapy is often needed due to patient illness and rapid disease progression.

Methionine Regulates Antitumour Function of CD8+ T Cells Through Polyamine Synthesis

open access: yesImmunology, Volume 179, Issue 3, Page 418-433, November 2026.
Methionine restriction in vitro enhances CD8+ T cell effector function by suppressing polyamine synthesis and progressively induces the co‐expression of PD‐1 and TIM‐3. Consistently, sustained dietary methionine restriction diminishes the efficacy of adoptive T cell therapy (ACT) and promotes the expression of terminal exhaustion‐associated markers ...

Localization of Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Enhancer Protein in A431 Epidermoid Carcinoma Cells by Southwestern Histochemistry (Recent Progress In Gene Histochemistry) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Since abnormal expression of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is frequently associated with cancer development, the analysis of EGFR gene expression at the transcriptional level as well as the transcript level is helpful to understand the abnormal

Metabolomics Analysis Revealed That SXZ Ameliorates Cognitive Impairment in Naturally Aged Rats by Promoting Glutathione Metabolism and Inhibiting the Ferroptosis Pathway

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 10, October 2026.
In aged rats, 6‐month SXZ treatment reversed spatial memory deficits and preserved hippocampal integrity. Mechanistic assays show that SXZ promotes glutathione metabolism and inhibits ferroptosis via p53/SLC7A11/GPX4 and Keap1/Nrf2/HO‐1 pathways. SXZ is a novel neuroprotective agent against age‐related cognitive decline.

Skeletal Muscle Fibre Type Determines Mitochondrial and Metabolic Responses to Hypoxia and Pulmonary Inflammation in Young Adult Rats

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients often experience skeletal muscle dysfunction that may result from a complex combination of mitochondrial dysfunction, metabolic reprogramming and fibre type transitions. Among other factors, pulmonary inflammation and hypoxia contribute to the COPD‐associated muscle defects ...

Widely Spread Butyrylcholinesterase Can Hydrolyze Acetylcholine in the Normal and Alzheimer Brain

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2002
Background: Butyrylcholinesterase (BChE), also known as the “pseudo” or “non-neuronal” cholinesterase, is traditionally thought to have a restricted CNS distribution and to play little, if any, role in cholinergic transmission.

Genome‐Wide In Vivo RNAi Screening Identifies HOXD4 as a Tumor Metastasis Suppressor in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 51, 14 September 2026.
Metastasis remains a major challenge in colorectal cancer. Using an in vivo shRNA screening system, this study identifies Homeobox D4 as a key metastasis suppressor. Reduced Homeobox D4 expression is associated with aggressive tumor features. Functional and mechanistic analyses show that it inhibits epithelial‐mesenchymal transition by repressing ...
