2021Kıbrıs’ta İngiliz yönetiminin başladığı tarih olan 1878 yılından itibaren Rumlar, Enosis’in gerçekleşmesi için bir takım girişimlerde bulunmuşlardır. Bunun için isyanlar eden Rumlar, Makarios’un başpiskopos olmasından sonra Enosis’i gerçekleştirmek için, Yunanistan’dan gönderilen Grivas ile birlikte EOKA isminde bir terör örgütü kurmuşlardır.
