Abstract An investigation of alternative EOR processes having potential application in the giant Ekofisk chalk field is presented. Technical feasibility, process readiness, oil recovery potential, and related uncertainties and risks of five selected EOR processes, namely hydrocarbon (HC) WAG, nitrogen (N2) WAG, carbon dioxide (CO2) WAG ...

Monitoring Chemical EOR Processes
SPE Improved Oil Recovery Symposium, 2014Abstract A laboratory study on core plugs from a carbonate field confirmed the efficacy of an alkaline surfactant (AS) formulation at reservoir conditions. Continuous monitoring of remaining oil saturation (ROS) in short core plugs using spatially resolved nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) can provide insights into the processes by which ...

Nitrogen has gained prominence as one of the fluids for enhanced oil and gas recovery (EOR) in the last decade. Large volume and high pressure characteristics of EOR nitrogen application required development of improved air separation cycles. The resulting nitrogen production process cycles for EOR application are described and compared.

Technology Focus: EOR Operations
Journal of Petroleum Technology, 2016Technology Focus A seminal event last year was the Climate Change Conference in Paris, where participating countries agreed to reduce their carbon output “as soon as possible” and to do their best to keep global warming “to well below 2°C.” History will be the judge of whether 2015 turns out to be a turning point in the journey to ...

Chemical EOR techniques utilize different chemicals for the trapped oil production. The efficiency of the practice depends on chemicals used and operations. The processes that comprise several complex strategies, reservoir characterization, implementation of most effective techniques and interpretation of data, as well as reservoir simulation for field

Microbiological Method for Eor
Revue de l'Institut Français du Pétrole, 1990To ensure a successful development of biotechnology it is necessary to study the processes of oil transformation from its separation from the parent rock followed by maturation and after-maturation periods and then very often aging and destruction (hypergenesis) influenced by the tectonic development of the region or the technogenic activity of man ...

Today, one of the most effective methods to increase oil recovery and stabilization and reduction water cut in the wells is a measure for the construction of lateral wellbores. The purpose of the course work is to analyze the operation of wells and sidetracks to prove the effectiveness of this technology in the oil and gas fields.
