2017Carapace subcircular to pyriform, moderately to strongly convexed, usually longer than broad. Front with single or double spines. Orbits incomplete, reduced, never concealing cornea, postorbital spines sometimes present, intercalated spine usually absent, eyestalks usually short, but not always, often immovable or slightly movable.

Remarkable zoeas of two species of deep-sea spider crabs (Brachyura, Majoidea, Epialtidae, Pisinae)
2012The first zoeas of two pisinine species, Laubierinia nodosa (Rathbun, 1916) and Oxypleurodon stimpsoni Miers, 1886, are described and illustrated from laboratory-hatched materials. Among majoid larvae, the present zoeas share a salient distinguishing character in having a pair of forehead cornua on the carapace.

A new species of deep-sea majoid is described from the eastern Philippines. Griffinia takedai n. sp. (Epialtidae) is the fourth species in this genus to be described, and it differs from congeners in its setose carapace, elongate rostral spines, as well as the well-developed supraorbital and hepatic spines.
