The ecology of protists epibiontic on marine hydroids

Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom, 2008
Several hydroid species have an epibiontic lifestyle, living associated with organisms of many different phyla. On the other hand, hydroids can also host dense assemblages of microflora and microfauna, mainly composed of protists and bacteria. Among protists, diatoms are the most abundant and diversified group, followed by foraminifera and sessile ...

A checklist of epibiont suctorian and peritrich ciliates (Ciliophora) on halacarid and hydrachnid mites (Acari: Halacaridae Hydrachnidia).

Zootaxa, 2018
Based on published records and original data, a list of the epibiont suctorian and peritrich ciliates (Ciliophora) on halacarid and hydrachnid mites is presented.

Epibiont communities on mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber

Palaeoentomology
The mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber was extensively colonized by marine epibiont communities, including pholadids, corals, oysters, and serpulids. In this study, we report a diverse array of marine organisms that adhered to the amber, forming epibiont communities.

The widely occurring brittlestar Ophiactis savignyi (Amphilepidida: Ophiactidae) as an epibiont on loggerhead sea turtle, Caretta caretta.

Zootaxa, 2019
We describe the first occurrence of the widely occurring brittlestar Ophiactis savignyi (Müller Troschel, 1842) as epibionts on Caretta caretta (Linnaeus, 1758), the loggerhead sea turtles.

Hitchhiking on Pennsylvanian Echinoids: Epibionts on Archaeocidaris

PALAIOS, 2003
Abstract Thousands of aggregating Archaeocidaris echinoids, many with Crurithyris planoconvexa brachiopods and fenestellid and encrusting bryozoan epibionts on their spines, occur in a Pennsylvanian (Missourian) echinoderm Lagerstatte in the Winchell Formation of north-central Texas.

Protistan epibionts of the ctenophore Mnemiopsis mccradyi Mayer

Hydrobiologia, 2001
Mnemiopsis mccradyi, a common coastal ctenophore, was observed to bear two distinct, exclusive assemblages of protistan epibionts. The mobiline peritrich, Trichodina ctenophorii (Estes et al., 1997), and small Flabellula-like gymnamoebae inhabited only the surface of the comb plates.

AN ANNOTATED CHECKLIST OF EPIBIONT CILIATE _ Zoothamnium

2021
A checklist of one of the epibionts ciliates of the genus Zoothamnium with all relevant information has been prepared by consulting the available literatures on Zoothamnium of all continents. This checklist will be helpful for further research in this area. This check list contains 57 species of Zoothamnium.
