Three cases of spinal epidural hematoma are reported, one lumbar, another cervical, and the third thoracic. All were dorsolaterally localized, the first and the third were dependent on anticoagulant therapy, and the second was spontaneous. In addition to the symptoms of sudden onset, acute spinal pain, flaccid paralysis, and loss of sphincter control ...

Sixty-four cases of bilateral epidural hematomas were reviewed. The factors of patient age, direction of injuring forces, location of hematomas, presence of associated skull fracture, and time interval between injury and onset of signs and symptoms were analyzed.

Epidural hematomas generally become manifested within hours after trauma because of progressive obtundation and later transtentorial herniation. However, epidural hematomas located outside the temporal fossa may produce vague neurological symptoms of delayed onset.

In brief: Several hours after being hit by a lacrosse stick in the left temporoparietal area slightly anterior to the ear, a lacrosse player was found unresponsive and wrapped in a blanket in his dormitory room. He had not lost consciousness during the game, sat out only five minutes, and completed the game.

A case of delayed epidural hematoma is described who had an initial computerized tomography (CT) scan reported as normal. Repeat CT scan at 48 h demonstrated a right temporal epidural hematoma. A skull fracture was not observed radiographically or at surgery. The world literature is reviewed and the criteria for repeat CT scanning is discussed.

We are reporting a case of ossified epidural hematoma that developed in a patient who had had a craniotomy at a different site for a brain tumor 14 years earlier. There was no history of trauma.

Traumatic Epidural Hematoma in Children
Journal of Child Neurology, 2005The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of childhood acute epidural hematoma and to report our experience in recent years. A series of 35 patients below the age of 15 years treated for acute epidural hematoma at our institution between June 1991 and December 2000 was analyzed in detail. Pediatric epidural hematoma presents both

Exophthalmos and Epidural Hematoma
Southern Medical Journal, 1976The development of a right exophthalmos in a patient with a left hemispheric epidural hematoma is reported. The parallel development of these two conditions in this unusual case suggests some direct relationship, although it must be recognized that a coincidental relationship is possible. The exact cause of the exophthalmos remains obscure.
