A simple substrate to produce the tropical epiphytic algae Hypnea pseudomusciformis
Abstract The seaweeds Hypnea spp have been used as a direct human food, for carrageenan extraction, and exploitation of chemical compounds of interest. Nevertheless, its culture is still undeveloped because of difficulties in managing the epiphytic habit.

ABSTRACT Endogenous biological rhythms are central to temporal organization in land plants, yet their evolutionary origins in streptophyte algae remain unresolved. We investigated whether rhythmic morpho‐physiological processes in Chara braunii are consistent with endogenous regulation and how continuous light intensity modulates these responses. In C.

Antagonistic Effect of Epiphytic Bacteria from Marine Algae, Southeastern India
Aim of this study was to evaluate the antagonistic potential of epibiotic bacteria from seaweeds, Ulva lactuca, Dictyota dichotoma and Padina tetrastromatica against some potent human pathogens. The epibiotic bacteria of Ulva lactuca shows higher level of inhibition properties than the other species.

ABSTRACT Aim Species associations are increasingly recognized as an effective way to improve species distribution model (SDM) predictions by integrating biotic and abiotic information that is difficult to measure in situ. This approach appears promising for monitoring communities where biodiversity and environmental data are sparse or limited.

Epiphytic subaerial algae represent an assemblage of micro-organisms widely distributed in terrestrial environments, including urban environments. Urban habitats present many challenges for the survival of photosynthetic micro-organisms, yet many species

Seasonal occurrences of epiphytic algae on the commercially cultivated red alga Kappaphycus alvarezii (Solieriaceae, Gigartinales, Rhodophyta) [PDF]
Common problems faced in farming of the red algal genus Kappaphycus/Eucheuma are “ice-ice disease” and the occurrence of epiphytes. Considerable work has been documented on “ice-ice disease” and it's mode of infection but limited information is available on the emergence of epiphytes.
