Epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus serotype 6 experimentation on adult cattle

Research in Veterinary Science, 2013
Epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV), an arthropod-borne orbivirus (family Reoviridae), is an emerging pathogen of wild and domestic ruminants closely related to bluetongue virus (BTV). EHDV serotype 6 (EHDV6) has recently caused outbreaks close to Europe in Turkey and Morocco and a recent experimental study performed on calves inoculated with ...

Emergence of epizootic hemorrhagic disease in Europe

Virologie, 2023
Epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHD) is a non-contagious arthropod-borne disease transmitted by blood-sucking midges of the genus Culicoides. It affects domestic and wild ruminants, mainly white-tailed deer and cattle. At the end of October and in November 2022, outbreaks of EHD were confirmed in several cattle farms in Sardinia and Sicily.

Hemagglutination of epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus

Archives of Virology, 1981
Hemagglutination of epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV) with a variety of erythrocyte species at 4 degrees C, room temperature and 37 degrees C was dependent on the NaCl molarity and the pH of the diluent. The hemagglutination inhibition test was used to identify EHDV serotypes.

Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease in Alberta, Canada

Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 2014
Epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHD) virus serotype 2 was identified by reverse-transcription (RT)-PCR in a white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus) found dead in southern Alberta in September 2013. Field observations indicate at least 50 deer, primarily white-tailed deer, and three pronghorn antelope (Antilocapra americana) died during a suspected ...

Bluetongue and Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease

2019
Bluetongue is an arthropod-borne viral disease of ruminants characterized by congestion of the buccal and nasal mucosa and the coronary tissue of the hooves, stiffness due to muscle degeneration, and, on occasion, edema of the head and neck; congenital abnormalities may occur in the fetuses of animals infected during pregnancy.

Purification and stability of epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus

Journal of Virological Methods, 1982
Purification of epizootic hemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV) from sonicated cell culture supernatant was effected using polyethylene glycol (PEG) precipitation and two CsCl density gradient centrifugations. During purification procedures the pH was maintained at values close to pH 8.0 as pH stability for EHDV was maximal between pH 7.2 and pH 9.0. During
