Weight loss and malnutrition related mainly to lean mass loss can develop in advanced stages of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and are a clear indication of phenotypic heterogeneity. The presence of weight loss and malnutrition is associated with a worse prognosis, independently of forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV(1)).

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and bronchiectasias are two of the most frequent and underdiagnosed diseases of the airways. The association between these two entities can be established from different points of view. On the one hand, because of their high prevalence, the co-occurrence of COPD and bronchiectasias in the same patient is not

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma are both highly prevalent inflammatory diseases characterized by airway obstruction with distinct pathogenic mechanisms and different degrees of response to antiinflammatory therapy. However, forms of presentation that show overlap between both diseases and which are not clearly represented in clinical ...

Symptoms of anxiety and depression are common in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) but are underdiagnosed and data on this association are scarce. The prevalence of anxiety and depression in COPD varies considerably among studies and is probably greater than is currently known.

At present, there are no useful methods for monitoring fatigue accumulation during training exercises. Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption (EPOC) after exercise is the greater the more exhausting the exercise. PURPOSE: To pre-predict the amount of EPOC measured after exercise from information recorded before and during exercise.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic disease causing increasing healthcare costs worldwide. Another respiratory disease causing high costs and morbidity is community-acquired pneumonia (CAP). Because of the constant growth in the population with both diseases (CAP and COPD), analyzing their clinical characteristics is important ...
