Characterization of the aramid: Epoxy and carbon: Epoxy interphases

Polymer Composites, 1985
AbstractThe matrix/reinforcement interphase in aramid fiber/epoxy and carbon fiber/epoxy composites were modeled by coating an internal reflection spectroscopy (IRS) element with a thin layer of an aramid or of carbonized poly(acrylonitrile) (PAN).

Reuse of cured epoxy as a reinforcement in an epoxy composite

Polymer Engineering & Science, 2012
AbstractThis article discusses the reuse of a thermoset‐based epoxy polymer. In this method, cured epoxy polymer is ground to powder of particle size ranging from 1 to 30 μm. The ground epoxy is then filled in an epoxy polymer to form an epoxy–epoxy composite system using both room and high temperature processing.

The Durability of Epoxies

Polymer-Plastics Technology and Engineering, 1978
Abstract : This report reviews the state of knowledge of the basic factors that control the durability of epoxies in service environments. The structure-property relations of amine (diethylene triamine, DETA)-cured bisphenol-A-diglycidyl ether (DGEBA) and amine (diaminodiphenyl sulfone, DDS)-cured tetraglycidyl 4,4'diaminodiphenyl methane (TGDDM ...

Triethanolamine-Mediated Covalent Adaptable Epoxy Network: Excellent Mechanical Properties, Fast Repairing, and Easy Recycling

, 2020
Early epoxy vitrimers in the literature rely on an inequivalent epoxy/anhydride stoichiometry and a large amount of catalyst to achieve a decent transesterification rate within the crosslinked netw...

Epoxy Functionalized Hyberbranched Polymer/Epoxy Blends

1999
Abstract : In this preliminary study, two novel hyperbranched polymer (HBP)/epoxy blends were evaluated to determine their efficiency as blend modifiers and tougheners in a brittle epoxy resin. The HBP is miscible in the epoxy and phase separates as cure progresses to form a two-phase system with a dispersed secondary phase of HBP/epoxy compatibilizers

The effect of brominated epoxy on epoxy/phenolic reactive blends [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of Applied Polymer Science, 2018
ABSTRACTInnovative reactive blends containing epoxy and brominated epoxy (BE) incorporated with resole‐type phenolic were studied with the aim to elucidate the curing kinetics and the final thermomechanical characteristics of this unique system. Curing kinetics was investigated by means of the activation energy determined using differential scanning ...
