Magnetic Actuation Under DC and AC Fields of Thermoplastic Polyurethane With Strontium Hexaferrite
Magnetic thermoplastic polyurethane composites with strontium hexaferrite (SrFe12O19) are produced through a solvent‐free melt‐mixing technique. These composites display a magnetomechanical actuation mechanism, being able to deform (bend and twist) through DC and AC magnetic fields, showcasing their potential as a promising material for the fabrication

Anticounterfeiting optical devices typically rely on random surface patterns revealed under IR/vis/UV light. Despite its security, this method suffers from the unavoidable deterioration of exposed superficial patterns. The proposed technique utilizes the high penetration depth and resolution of THz radiation to reveal submillimeter metallic patterns ...

Composite materials with uncured epoxy matrix exposed in stratosphere during NASA stratospheric balloon flight [PDF]
A cassette of uncured composite materials with an epoxy resin matrix was exposed in the stratosphere (40 km altitude) over 3 days. Temperature variations of -76...+32.50C and pressure up to 2.1 Torr were recorded during flight. An analysis of the chemical structure of the composites showed, that the polymer matrix exposed in the stratosphere becomes ...

A Convoy of Magnetic Millirobots Transports Endoscopic Instruments for Minimally‐Invasive Surgery
The first electrocautery procedure performed by a team of millirobots (TrainBots) is presented. Enhanced with optimized feet, millirobots form a convoy to facilitate the collaborative transportation of wires and catheters through biological lumens, e.g. bile ducts. It opens up the possibility of using a team of mini‐robots in future endoscopic surgery.
