Epoxy-resin patterns speed shell-molding of aluminum parts [PDF]

open access: yes, 1965
Half patterns cast from commercial epoxy resin containing aluminum powder are used for shell-molding of aluminum parts. The half patterns are cast in plastic molds of the original wooden pattern.

Electrochemical Evaluation of Compressed Selective Laser Melted AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg Alloys in Chloride Environment

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The corrosion performance of AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg alloys produced through selective laser melting (SLM) was examined under compressive stress in a chloride environment. Electrochemical analyses, including open‐circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization (CPP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), were complemented by scanning ...

Improving the surface insulating performance of epoxy resin/Al(2)O(3) composite materials by extending chain of liquid epoxy resin with Me-THPA

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2019
Basin-type insulators are made by epoxy resin composite materials. Curing defects are easily formed in basin-type insulators, and degrade their insulating performances.

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

Monitoring Strain Response of Epoxy Resin during Curing and Cooling Using an Embedded Strain Gauge

open access: yesSensors, 2020
The present work describes the monitoring system of the real-time strain response on the curing process of epoxy resin from the initial point of curing to the end, and the change in strain during temperature changes.

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Effect of Laser Deoxidation on Adhesive‐Bonded Aluminum in an Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser ablation of aluminum under oxygen‐free conditions. The goal is to produce oxide‐free substrates that enable improved adhesive bonding with epoxy. Optimized laser parameters (90% overlap, 300 µJ) combined with oxide‐free substrates result in the highest tensile strength of the adhesive bond.

On the dielectric performance of modified epoxy networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Epoxy resins represent a commonly used basis for insulation materials and have been used in many different electrical applications. The formation of these systems involves reactions between a hardener, such as an amine-curing system, and an epoxy ...
