Improving the performance of CFRP-reinforced concrete cylinders in sulfate-laden environment through nanoclay modification of epoxy resin

open access: yesConstruction and Building Materials
The durability of epoxy-concrete interface is a crucial factor for practical application of externally bonded fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) retrofit systems, particularly when the strengthened structure is subjected to severe environmental conditions ...

Application of Epoxy Resins in Tunnel Lining Concrete Repair

Journal of the Construction Division, 1972
Concrete lining in a large diameter tunnel spillway damaged by cavitation erosion caused by variable high flows up to 20,000 cfs was repaired by use of bonded concrete, and epoxy bonded epoxy mortar. Epoxy bonded epoxy mortar was used to make the repairs except in the damaged areas of large volume.

Engineering Properties of Epoxy Resins Used as Concrete Adhesives

ACI Materials Journal, 1996
Some mechanical properties of two commercial bulk-hardened epoxy adhesives were examined to update and complement existing data on these materials. Results revealed that cured epoxy adhesives possess higher tensile and shear strength than portland cement concrete and much-reduced Young's and shear moduli.

An innovative high performance pervious concrete with polyester and epoxy resins

Construction and Building Materials, 2019
Abstract Pervious concrete (PC) has been detecting application in pavement and concrete structures such as dams, small retaining walls, and etc during the past decades. Also, in recent years, the types of resins have been introduced to apply in concrete owing to the enhancing in mechanical and durability characteristics.

Experimental study on strength characteristics of polymer concrete with epoxy resin

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2021
Abstract Polymer concrete used in the study is type of composite material wherein the aggregates used in testing are bound collectively in the form of matrix with a polymer as binder. It is increasing attractiveness as a newly structural material because of it has higher compressive, tensile and flexural strengths and also it has shorter time of ...

Comparative study of epoxy and polyester resin-based polymer concretes

International Journal of Adhesion and Adhesives, 1987
Abstract This paper presents a comparative evaluation of two types of polymer concretes, prepared with two different polymer binders (epoxy and polyester resins) with identical aggregate in both cases (crushed quartzite and silica sand). Comparison is also made with a conventional cement concrete.

The Use of Epoxy Resin for Sealing Cracks in a Reinforced Concrete Bridge

1959
In the summer of 1958, a special formulation of epoxy resin was used to seal hairline cracks in the safety walks of the Levisa-Fork bridge at Paintsville, Kentucky. This bridge, a reinforced concrete box girder-type, Fig. 1, developed fine cracks soon after the falsework was removed. The cracks which were typically like those in Figs. 2 and 3, occurred
