Enhancing the Strength of Polylactic Acid Material by Bonding Glass Fiber‐Reinforced Polymer Composite Plates With Various Fabric Weights and Orientations

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the impact of applying bidirectional glass fiber fabric‐reinforced polymer (GFRP) composite coatings to the top and bottom surfaces of three‐dimensional printed polylactic acid (3D‐printed PLA) parts on their mechanical properties.

A Conformal Transmissive Metasurface with Dual‐Band Dual‐Circularly Polarized Conversion and Low Scattering

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
A conformal transmissive metasurface with the multi‐function is introduces, which could transform y‐polarized waves into right‐handed circularly polarized waves in 6.8–10.3 GHz and to left‐handed circularly polarized waves in 18.77–21.15 GHz, while vice versa for x‐polarized waves.

Mandible composition and properties in two selected praying mantises (Insecta, Mantodea)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Insects process their food with their cuticle‐based mouthparts. These feeding structures reflect their diversity and can, in some cases, showcase adaptations in material composition, mechanical properties, and shape to suit their specific dietary preferences.

Review of the anatomical basis for predicting plutonium alpha particle radiation induced osteogenic cancers

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Plutonium was discovered and first synthesized in the early 1940's. Several isotopes of plutonium are used in nuclear technologies, 238Pu for heat generation and 239Pu for energy production and weapons. Both isotopes emit alpha particles, which pose a significant radiation hazard when incorporated into the body.

Dietary ecology of Smilodon across time and space: Additional perspectives from Smilodon gracilis and Smilodon fatalis in Florida

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Dental microwear texture analysis of Smilodon samples from Florida's Pleistocene reveals moderate carcass utilization (like modern African lions) across space and time, with more subtle dietary shifts in response to fluctuating climates. Abstract Smilodon, the iconic saber‐toothed cat, was a Pleistocene apex predator comprised of three morphologically ...

Shaping the human face: Periosteal bone modeling across ontogeny

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Facial morphology is a defining aspect of Homo sapiens that distinguishes our species from fossil ancestors and plays a central role in estimating age, sex, and ancestry in both past and present populations. Understanding how the face develops during postnatal ontogeny is essential for interpreting adult facial variation.

Synthesis and Characterization of Bio‐based Polybenzoxazine Hybrids From Vanillin, Thymol, and Carvacrol

open access: yesChemistry – An Asian Journal, EarlyView.
In this study, we synthesized hybrid benzoxazines from the bio‐phenolic compounds—vanillin, thymol, and carvacrol— Jeffamine D‐230, and paraformaldehyde through a Mannich reaction. The thermal polymerizations of the hybrid benzoxazines were analyzed using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC).
